Gympie & District Landcare Group

Gympie & District Landcare Group Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to support and inspire landowners to practice sustainable land stewardship. Our organisation provides education sessions relating to sustainable land use and environmental biodiversity best practices, as well as providing Contract Land Services to assist landholders in the region. We have a large range of native plants  available for sale in our nursery, as well as knowledgeable staff and volunteers who are able to assist landholders with information and advice regarding native plants, and our bio-control facility is rearing beetles that can be used in the region as an organic and chemical free option of controlling invasive plants such as Cats Claw and Madiera Vine.

Heart Of Gold International Short Film Festival

Heart Of Gold International Short Film Festival

Heart of Gold inspires and connects through short films to celebrate the richness of the human spirit. The short film festival is held at the Gympie Civic Centre from October 3 – 6, and will screen over 120 films, plus workshops, family activities, free events and filmmaker discussions.

With a team of over a hundred volunteers, Heart of Gold has a strong presence in the community. Volunteers get together throughout the year, to review film submissions in screener groups, and also donate their time to assist with the administration in the lead up to the festival. During the festival volunteers fill vital positions as ushers, ticket salespeople, hospitality roles, as well as assisting with setup and pack down, decorating the venue, hosting filmmakers, and driving filmmakers to and from the event.

Veterans Retreat

Weeroona

Weeroona provides support to people with a disability to assist them to live the life of their choosing. Supports include in people’s homes, in support worker’s homes, and also in the community.

Heart Of Gold International Short Film Festival

Heart of Gold inspires and connects through short films to celebrate the richness of the human spirit. The short film festival is held at the Gympie Civic Centre from October 3 – 6, and will screen over 120 films, plus workshops, family activities, free events and filmmaker discussions.

With a team of over a hundred volunteers, Heart of Gold has a strong presence in the community. Volunteers get together throughout the year, to review film submissions in screener groups, and also donate their time to assist with the administration in the lead up to the festival. During the festival volunteers fill vital positions as ushers, ticket salespeople, hospitality roles, as well as assisting with setup and pack down, decorating the venue, hosting filmmakers, and driving filmmakers to and from the event.

Relay For Life is a community fundraising challenge raising vital funds for cancer patients.

Friends, families and colleagues are encouraged to join forces and team up to raise funds in the lead up to their communities Relay For Life event.

Each Relay event is organised by passionate, local volunteers, and is an experience that will stay with you forever. The event brings communities together to celebrate Survivors and recognise the unsung heroes – their Carers. We honour those we’ve lost during our candlelight ceremony, and we continue to raise funds to support people affected by cancer, fund research and prevention programs. Teams commit to walking, rolling or running around a track to signify that cancer never rests, so neither do we.

Gympie Wesleyan Methodist Church

As a church we reach out to the community by providing a number of different activities for a range of ages including Mainly Music for families with pre-school aged children, a Kid’s Club for Primary aged children, and a youth group for high schoolers.

Lighthouse (Youth) meets each Friday of the school term and is all about our teenagers from Years 7-12.

Mainly Music – Lots of fun every Friday for children from birth to 4 years old and their carers. Friday during school terms from 10.00am.

MAF – Mature Age Fellowship is a unique ministry to those who have a number of years of experience under their belt. MAF members enjoy morning teas, social events, sharing their life experiences, and helping out wherever possible.

Gympie Volunteer First Aid Service

In the Cooloola Coast regional area, the Gympie Volunteer First Aid Services medics, are the preferred first aid provider for the Gympie Regional Council, local touch football associations, BMX clubs, lawn mower racing club and numerous other not-for-profit community organisations.

We are a non-profit organisation and all funds raised (by donation) are re-invested in the maintenance & upgrading of equipment and the training of our volunteer medics.
